When a client calls us a second time, we always challenge ourselves to surprise them again.
For Gunship, we didn’t want to repeat the action anime formula, but rather explore something more retro. Something that drew inspiration from much older anime, like Speed Racer or Bubblegum Crisis.
Here the ANIMATIC.
That’s why we strived to mimic the drawing style of a Japanese artist from 50 years ago and bring it to today’s music video.
These amazing designs are by Juanma Laguna, a great expert on Japanese culture and also the Road Runner of animation.
This project involved
Juanma Laguna (it would have been impossible to achieve this style without him),
Marcos Bango (I believe he did the entire animatic himself),
Spudman with his brilliant shadows and volumes,
Guillermo Moreno and Sergio Abalo on set design,
and Laura Rabanal providing assistance.
