They were familiar [with the films] and were building their own thing. (…) I was like, ‘Have at it, and have fun.’ I take no credit beyond creating Jay, Silent Bob, and the View Askewniverse. I make sure I give credit where credit’s due.

The kids who created Chronic Blunt Punch did everything.

They did remind me of myself. They’re outside the system, but they believe in themselves. (…) So it’s lovely when you work with true artists who take time and do it beautifully.

Here you can watch a few animatics and concept art ilustrations.

A trailer with a wild variety of enemies and its two-player beat ’em up combat mechanics, with combos, transformations, and all that good stuff.

You can watch it below.

It’s not exactly common for the studio handling all the game’s animation to also direct and produce the trailers.

But in this case, thanks to the 2D animation chops and film industry experience of everyone at Angry Metal… well, to be honest, the real reason we spent six years animating the game’s characters was because we knew that in the end we’d get to make a couple of 30-second action movies like the ones you just saw up there.

Although we’ve animated about 50 characters for this game I don’t want to show too many, because, you know, it’s better if you buy the game and enjoy them in their natural habitat.

But I can leave you with one image that sums up the process pretty well, and shows how we had to check every single frame of animation to keep the characters’ proportions consistent.

Animación

Jay and Silent Bob is a co-production between Interabang, Atari, Digital Eclipse, and The Angry Metal Company.

We handled the animation of all the characters, often incorporating design ideas for them.

We also produced 100% of the trailers.

It was a project years in the making, with artists like Juanma Laguna, Spunman, Marcos Bango, Laura Rabanal contributing their talent and effort.

The entire animation was directed and produced by Luis Junquera and Enol Junquera.

Justin Woodward, the creative director of the project, was the one who gave us the opportunity to be a part of this.
